Every one of our projects is an attempt to understand what architecture can be about in the erratic world we live in. The material that has come out after our first 5 years of practice, however, is still hard to decipher and any attempt to build a coherent theory about it, is as problematic as to foresee the future.
To accept this uncertainty is vital for us. But the fact that we prefer to move loosely in the foggy atmosphere we are bound to live in does not mean that our work has no specific direction. You can find, in the 48 projects we have done until now fascinations, preoccupations and ideas that guide our practice.
Architecture emerges from desires of first necessity.
Go dancing with a building.
Architecture falls Architecture forms function Don’t master mind architecture.
Touch the earth gently.
Architecture is air and light and time and space and toilets and beds and kitchens and sinks.
Architecture is defined by all architectures.
Our work is divided in projects.
We make plans, drawings, models, collages, plans, sections.
Any of these artifacts could be considered architecture.
Buildings are the form by which architecture deploys all its potency.
We love bathrooms.
Spaces were the body.
Is in direct relation with architecture.
Spaces made up of weak and diffuse boundaries.
A fertile architecture.
Porous.
Close to ruins and follies.
Architecture made out of concrete or wood of steel.
Always mixed with earth and water.
Less something again.
Architectures as friends.
An architecture of consequences.
Imagine you could piss in Duchamp’s Fontaine.
You have a good idea of what architecture can be.
Yes, structure is important.
Yes, form is important.
Yes, function is important.
Yes, materials are important.
Yes, clients are important
And
Yes, ecology is important.
What else can we do inside a building?
Where better than this place?
Architecture is built by workers.
Architecture emerging from an intimate relation between life and form.
The next project as an unformulated need.
A poem worth using.
